Key Strategies

  1. Interpret clues as visible building counts

    A clue of 1 means only the tallest building (height = grid size) is visible, so it must be in the first position. A clue equal to the grid size means buildings are in ascending order.

  2. Use clue 1 and max clue immediately

    A clue of 1: the first building seen must be the tallest — place the maximum value in that first cell. A clue of N (grid width): every building is visible — place 1, 2, 3, … in ascending order.

  3. Apply Latin-square rules

    Each row and column contains each height exactly once. Combine the visibility clues with elimination just as in Sudoku.

  4. Work from both ends of each row

    A row has a clue from both sides. The constraints from both ends together often force the position of the tallest building in that row.
