About Star Battle
Star Battle is a logic puzzle where you place a fixed number of stars in a grid divided into colored regions. Every row, every column, and every region must contain exactly the same number of stars. Stars cannot be placed in cells adjacent — including diagonally — to any other star.
The puzzle scales elegantly: easy puzzles require one star per row/column/region, while harder puzzles require two or more. The adjacency rule is the key constraint — even when you know a row needs a star, all valid cells may be blocked by the adjacency of existing stars, forcing you to reconsider from a different angle.
Star Battle has a strong visual component: the colored regions guide your eye toward promising placements, and solving the puzzle feels like fitting pieces together. The triple constraint — row, column, and region — creates the rich interplay that makes every placement feel earned.
Begin with rows or columns that intersect only one or two cells of a region. The star for that region in that row is heavily constrained, often forced to a single cell.
