About Galaxies
Galaxies (also called Tentai Show) is a puzzle where you divide a grid into regions, each containing exactly one circular galaxy center. Every region must have 180° rotational symmetry about its center — for any cell in the region, the cell reflected through the center must also belong to the same galaxy.
This symmetry requirement is the defining feature. When you assign a cell to a galaxy, you immediately know its mirror cell must also belong to that same galaxy. This creates a paired structure across the grid: every cell is tied to its reflection through each nearby galaxy center, and the puzzle is solved when every cell belongs to exactly one correctly symmetric region.
Galaxies is one of the most visually beautiful logic puzzles. As you draw region boundaries, the symmetrical shapes emerge organically. The completed solution always looks like a tiling of elegant, balanced forms — a unique aesthetic quality hard to find in other puzzle types.
Galaxy centers at cell corners or on cell edges have their mirror cell very close by. These small, tightly constrained galaxies are the natural starting points — determine their minimal symmetric footprint, then expand outward.
Frequently asked questions
What is Galaxies?
Galaxies (Spiral Galaxies) is a logic puzzle where you divide a grid into regions. Each region has exactly one galaxy center (a dot), and the region must be rotationally symmetric at 180° around that dot.
