How to Play Slant
Fill every cell with either a \ or / diagonal. Corner clue numbers tell you how many diagonals connect at that corner point.
Try it now — Easy 7x7 →The Rules
- Place either / or \ in every grid cell
- Numbers at grid corners (intersections) show how many of the four adjacent diagonals meet at that corner
- A corner clue of "0" means no adjacent diagonal touches it; "4" means all four do
- Every cell must have exactly one diagonal
Available in 3 sizes (5x5, 7x7, 10x10) and 3 difficulty levels (easy, normal, hard).
See It in Action
Place / or \ in every cell — corner numbers tell you how many diagonals meet at that corner point
How to Play
- Start with "0" corners — all four adjacent cells must have diagonals pointing away from that corner
- Start with "4" corners — all four adjacent cells must have diagonals pointing toward that corner
- Work outward from fixed corners using constraint propagation on adjacent cells
- Check that no single-cell loop (connected path with no exit) forms during solving
Pro Tips
Corner and edge intersections of the grid have only 1 or 2 adjacent cells — their clue is very constraining
A "0" corner eliminates two of the four diagonal orientations for each of its adjacent cells
Diagonals form connected paths through the grid — think about where the rivers of slants must flow
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Slant?
Slant (Gokigen Naname) is a logic puzzle where you draw a diagonal line in each cell. Numbers at grid intersections tell you how many of the adjacent diagonals meet at that corner.
