-
One star per row, column, and region
Every row, every column, and every shaded region must contain exactly the same number of stars. Use this triple constraint to eliminate options fast.
-
Stars cannot touch
No two stars may be in adjacent cells — including diagonally adjacent. After placing a star, X out all 8 surrounding cells immediately.
-
Narrow regions with only one placement
A thin or oddly-shaped region may only have one or two cells in a given row. Use row/column constraints to determine which cell gets the star.
-
Use elimination by row/column
If you know a star must be in a specific region, and that region's cells in a particular row are all impossible (blocked by other stars), the star must be in one of the other rows.
Put It Into Practice
The best way to improve is to play regularly. Start with an easy puzzle and apply these techniques one at a time.
