-
Clue numbers count diagonal crossings
Each number is placed at a grid vertex (dot) and counts how many of the 4 adjacent diagonal lines pass through that vertex. 0 means none; 4 means all four.
-
Use 0 and 4 immediately
A vertex clue of 0 means all four adjacent cells get the diagonal that doesn't pass through this vertex. A clue of 4 means all four diagonals pass through it — unambiguous directions.
-
No closed loops
The diagonal lines must form a single connected tree (no cycles). If adding a diagonal would close a cycle in the current line segments, choose the opposite diagonal for that cell.
-
All cells must connect
The diagonals across all cells must form a single fully connected tree spanning all vertices. Check connectivity after each placement.
Put It Into Practice
The best way to improve is to play regularly. Start with an easy puzzle and apply these techniques one at a time.
