-
Match tent count to tree count
Every tree must pair with exactly one tent, and every tent must pair with exactly one tree. The pairing is exclusive — one tree, one tent.
-
Tents cannot touch each other
No two tents may be in adjacent cells (including diagonally). After placing a tent, mark all 8 surrounding cells as empty immediately.
-
Use row and column totals
Each row and column has a clue showing how many tents it contains. Rows with a clue of 0 are entirely empty. Rows whose clue matches their free cell count are all tents.
-
Tents must be adjacent to their tree
Each tent is orthogonally adjacent (up, down, left, right — not diagonal) to its paired tree. If a tree's only possible tent positions are blocked, re-examine the surrounding deductions.
Put It Into Practice
The best way to improve is to play regularly. Start with an easy puzzle and apply these techniques one at a time.
